Utah Beach Volleyball Splits Opening Day of ASICS Classic

Utes secure their fifth 5-0 win of the season

Malibu, Calif. – Utah Beach Volleyball split the first day of their final weekend of regular season matches from the ASICS Classic, hosted by Pepperdine University. The Utes started the day with a 5-0 sweep of Hope International, before falling to host Pepperdine in the second match of the day, 4-1.

Utah would take the first match of the day by way of a straight sweep, with all five courts winning in two sets. The fifth court pairing of Milan Ray and Azure McOmber held their opponents to under 10 points in each set, winning the match, 21-9, 21-8. On the fourth court, Kylie Pitzak and Marissa Koch earned a quick decision in favor of the Utes, 21-13, 21-7.

The duo of Pitzak and Koch would secure the lone win of the match against Pepperdine, in a close battle, 22-20, 21-17. On the second court, after taking the first set 21-18, the pairing of Bella Vezzani and Rylee Johnson would drop the final two sets, 21-9, 15-11. The duo of Langley Griffin and Katie McAlister would find themselves in a three-set battle after taking the first set 21-19, moving on to drop the final two sets, 21-13, 16-14.
