FROM THE STARTING LINE
With a majority of the team split between the Drake Relays and Robison Invitational, it will Utah's last opportunity to secure a qualifying mark for the NCAA West Regionals before heading to the final Pac-12 Outdoor Track & Field Championships (May 10-12) – which is slated to be held at Potts Field in Boulder, Colo.
Â
Since 2013 when the new format to award the winner of the Relays Cup, there has not been a women's team that have won it back-to-back years. With that said, the Women of Utah will get that opportunity this weekend as it returns to the famed Blue Oval to defend its title from a year ago – its first in program history.
Â
IN THE HUNT
Heading into the final weekend of the regular-season, Utah currently has six competitors between five events along with the 4x400m relay team that have secured a qualifying mark for the NCAA West Regionals. Meanwhile, the Utes have four that are on the fringe that would currently qualify if the regionals started this weekend. The top-48 runners in each event earn a spot at each regional site while the top 24 relay teams are accepted.
Â
Utah's relay team currently has the 23rd fastest mark in the country, but would sit at No. 19 once marks for secondary and tertiary teams are removed from the list.
