AIR FORCE ACADEMY, Colo. – For the third straight season, the University of Utah Lacrosse team has earned a spot in the ASUN Championship after beating the Cleveland State Knights in the semifinals today, 21-5. Utah improved to 11-4 overall this season and will look to defend its ASUN title on Sunday, May 5 at 11 a.m. MT.
Utah dominated from start to finish today against Cleveland State, scoring 13 goals in the first half alone, winning by 16 – the second-largest margin of victory in school history. It was the third time in the last four games Utah has scored 20-or-more goals and the fifth time this season.
The Utes out-shot Cleveland State 63-28 with 34 shots on goal, also winning the ground ball battle at 41-31 for their third straight game with 40-plus ground balls. Utah forced 13 of the Knights' 23 turnovers while the Utes only committed 12 with three being forced.

Joey Boylston had a standout day for the Utes on defense, recording a team-high five ground balls and a career-high four caused turnovers. True freshman
Luca Pivetta also added three caused turnovers with sophomore
Nikko DiPonio putting together a well-rounded game with a goal, three ground balls and a caused turnover.

Colin Lenskold and senior
Connor Hollison combined for three saves while only allowing the five goals. Lenskold had 10 saves on the day with Hollison coming in during the second half to rack up three.
GAME HIGHLIGHTS
- Utah claimed its 45th win as a program today against Cleveland State, now sitting at 45-33 all-time.
- The Utes' five goals allowed ties for the school record fewest goals allowed with the five against Lindenwood this season.
- Utah has only allowed 10 goals-or-less in eight games this season, including in the last six.
- Prior to today's game, the school record for individual single-season CTOs was 28 (Samuel Cambere, 2022). Nikko DiPonio's one CTO today gave him 29 on the season, but Joey Boylston's four gave him 30 on the season, giving him the official Utah record.
- Utah has had 10+ caused turnovers seven times this season, including in the last four with today's 13.
- Utah scored 36 points today against Cleveland State, the third straight game with 30-or-more.
- Utah is now 25-6 under head coach Andrew McMinn when producing 30+ ground balls, recording 40-or-more in three straight.
- With Ryan Stines' two goals today, he has reached 80 in his career as just a sophomore, averaging 2.50 per game (32 games).
