SALT LAKE CITY – Three members of the Utah Gymnastics program were recognized this week with selection to the College Sports Communicators (CSC) Academic All-District team.
Jaylene Gilstrap,
Maile O'Keefe and
Abby Paulson were each awarded Academic All-District honors. Gilstrap makes her way onto the Academic All-District team for the first time as a Red Rock. For O'Keefe and Paulson, this is the third time they have earned this achievement.
Gilstrap collects the first Academic All-District distinction of her career. She was a mainstay in the Red Rocks' floor lineup while competing on beam and vault in eight meets. She tallied her first event win as a Ute, scoring a 9.950 on floor at Arizona. Gilstrap's season culminated with a 2024 NCAA Gainesville Regional Title on floor, hitting her fourth consecutive routine of 9.950. Gilstrap scored above 9.90 in 12 of 16 floor routines during the season.
Gilstrap is a three-time Pac-12 Academic Honor Roll recipient and WGCA Scholastic All-American. She has earned Utah's Coaches Award in back-to-back seasons in 2023 and 2024, and garnered the Marsden Leadership and Dahl Academic honors in 2022.
After closing out one of the most decorated careers as a Red Rock, O'Keefe adds a third Academic All-District laurel to her list of honors. O'Keefe ended the regular season as the second-ranked beam worker in the nation, posting an NQS of 9.990. O'Keefe added her seventh regular season All-America award to her mantel, with her fourth first-team distinction on the apparatus. Adding a final pair of NCAA first-team All-America honors at the NCAA Championships, earning the nod on beam and floor, securing 9.9500 scores in each event, making O'Keefe a 19-time All-American (7 regular season, 12 NCAA).
Closing the book on Pac-12 Conference competition, O'Keefe claimed the 2024 beam title with her record-setting 15
th career 10.0 score. Off the competition floor, O'Keefe is a four-time WCGA Scholastic All-American and Pac-12 Academic Honor Roll recipient, also being honored as an Academic All-American in 2023.
After earning Pac-12 Scholar-Athlete of the Year honors,
Paulson was named the Utah Gymnastics Dahl Academic-Athletic Award recipient at the end of the 2023-24 season. She is a six-time All-American on beam (4 regular season, 2 NCAA), a four-time All-Pac-12 Conference honoree and two-time Pac-12 Beam Champion (2021, 2022).
Paulson captured her second NCAA All-America award at the 2024 NCAA Championships with a first-team honor on the apparatus, scoring a 9.9500. Paulson added the fourth regular-season All-America honor to her resume, ranking sixth in the nation with an NQS of 9.955. She recently completed her degrees in Kinesiology and Political Science, with a 3.966 GPA. In the classroom, Paulson is a four-time All-Pac-12 honoree and WCGA Scholastic All-American, earning CSC Academic All-America status in 2022 and 2023.
Each of the three CSC All-District honorees are up for Academic All-America honors, which will be voted on by fellow institutions.
