SAINT-DENIS, France –
After a pair of excellent showings that secured her opportunity to compete in the women's 3m springboard final at the Paris Olympics, University of Utah diver
Emilia Nilsson Garip earned a ninth place finish on Friday morning at the Aquatics Centre.
Nilsson Garip reached as high as fifth on the leaderboard after a point total of 60 in round one before finishing with a total of 279.40. She finished ahead of former European Aquatics Championships gold medalist Grace Reid of Great Britain and three-time NCAA All-American Julia Vincent from South Africa, as well as Malaysia's Nur Dhabitah Sabrim, who placed fourth in this event at the Tokyo Olympics.
A two-time Pac-12 Champion and 2024 NCAA All-American, Nilsson Garip reached the 3m final by piling up 295.20 points in Wednesday's preliminary round, followed by Thursday's semifinals, in which she took 11th, thanks to a score of 279.60.
