DALLAS – The University of Utah's swim and dive program eased into a tri-meet against Southern Methodist University and University of Pittsburgh, swimming two races at SMU's Robson and Lindley Aquatics Center on Friday night.
"We got some nice swims in this afternoon," said head coach
Jonas Persson. "Four NIC cuts in the women's 100 IM and one in the men's 100 IM. Baylor and Teagan took the opportunity to get a nice 400 IM swim in on sea level."
On to NIC's
- Alexia Duncan swam a 56.56 in the 100-yard IM, earning an National Invitational Championship cut and finishing third.
- Three more Utes found the same cut in the same race, Sydney Even, Ella Derby and Isabella Riso.
- On the men's side, Jackson Kehler touched the wall at 50.38 in the 100-IM, taking the gold and earning an NIC cut.
400-IMers
- Teagan Steinmetz swam a 4:26.27 in the 400-yard IM, touching the wall first.
- Earning fourth-place, Baylor Lewis finished his race at 3:57.21.
"Overall, it was very promising for tomorrow," said Persson. "The teams are in good spirits and very much looking forward to the meets tomorrow morning."
