EUGENE, Ore. – The Utah men's basketball team fought hard but the Oregon Ducks defeated the Runnin' Utes 73-53 in Friday night's exhibition game inside Matthew Knight Arena.

Freshman guard
Kendyl Sanders got things started for the Runnin' Utes with a 3-point jumper and driving layup to break the scoring drought as Oregon took a 23-5 advantage into a media timeout (10:19).

Following the break, Utah began to find its stride and showed discipline on both sides of the court as it outscored the Ducks 17-13 in the final 10 minutes of the half. Despite Utah's improvement, Oregon capitalized on their strong first strike to take a 36-22 advantage into the break.

Utah opened the second frame with two quick scores from
Obomate Abbey and
Elijah "Choppa" Moore as Oregon held on to a 41-27 advantage

The Utes had a hard time finding the bottom of the net on offense, not scoring until the 11:20 mark.

The Ducks controlled the narrative through the remainder of the contest, securing a 73-53 exhibition victory.

Terrence Brown led the Utes with 15 points while Dawes added a double-double (his first of the season) with 10 points and 11 rebounds.Â
