IRVING, Texas – Sophomore
Attila Bernatsky has been named the Big 12 Men's Diver of the Week after claiming his first collegiate win last week, the conference announced Thursday.
Bernatsky shined in the Utes' season opener against Wyoming last week, winning on the 3-meter springboard and placing second on the 1-meter. The Winnipeg, Canada native scored a 281.25 list score on the 3m, which beat out teammate
Alex Just's 262.20 for his first collegiate win. Bernatsky also logged a 256.50 in the 1m to take the silver.
This marks the first weekly award for the Utes this season and 11th since joining the Big 12 Conference prior to last season. Eight of Utah's 12 weekly awards have come from divers.
Bernatsky and Utah are back in action on Halloween when they host Colorado Mesa at 1 p.m. inside Ute Natatorium. Live results can be found on the MeetMobile app.
