SINGAPORE– Two representatives of Utah Golf hit the world stage to compete in the 2025 World Amateur Team Championships from Oct. 9-12.
Juniors
Gabriel Palacios and
Sergio Jimenez will compete with their respective countries (Guatemala and Spain) amongst the best amateur golfers in the world. They also become the first two Utes to ever do so.
"We are so proud of Gabo and Sergio, and everything they have and continue to accomplish on and off the golf course," said Utah Golf head coach
Garrett Clegg. "To have the opportunity to compete on the world stage, with some of the best players around is a huge accomplishment for them, and a great representation of our program and where we envision it to continue growing."
Palacios and Jimenez have been key cogs for the Utes in some of their recent successes, including a
historic season last year that featured the highest finish in program history (No. 17) as well as four team titles earned and six individual crowns.
Additionally,
Palacios made more personal and program history over the summer being the first Guatemalan and Ute invited to compete in the Arnold Palmer Cup.
Utah Golf will wrap up their fall slate starting with the Williams Cup from Oct. 19-21 and then the Golf Club of Georgia Collegiate from Oct. 24-26 shortly after Palacios and Jimenez finish competing in Singapore.
