BIRMINGHAM, U.K. – Former Utah All-American Poppy Tank will represent Great Britain & Northern Ireland once again at the World Cross Country Championships after being named to the senior women's team on Friday by the country's governing body, British Athletics.
"I'm really proud to be selected for my second World Cross Country Championships," exclaimed Tank. "I place a lot of value in cross country and how that strength translates into other areas. I can't wait to represent GB & N.I. in Tallahassee and do my best!"
This is the second time Tank will don the Union Jack on her singlet on the world stage. She previously ran in the 2023 edition of the World Cross Country Championships in Bathurst, Australia.
The Plymouth, England, product finished 22nd-overall as an individual while Great Britain & N.I. claimed second as a team with 39 points at the SPAR European Championships on Sunday, Dec. 14.
"She ran a very smart race at the European Championships to earn this spot," Utah head cross country and track & field coach
Kyle Kepler said. "Her national experience will be invaluable for the GB & N.I. team in Tallahassee."
Tank will join three other Utes in Emily Venters (USA) and Riley Innes (CAN) at the 2026 World Cross Country Championships on Saturday, Jan. 10, in Tallahassee, Fla., at Apalachee Regional Park. Both Tank and Venters will clash in the senior women's race while Innes will compete in the U20 race.
