Utah Cross Country Places Third in Season-Opener at UVU Invitational

Mackenzie Rogers was the low stick for Utah with a 13th-place finish on Friday at the UVU Invitational.
SALT LAKE CITY – The Utah cross country team placed third-overall on Friday at the UVU Invitational – which was hosted by UVU at Scera Park.
Mackenzie Rogers paced the Utes and was the first Ute to cross the finish line at 16:44.82 for 13th-overall in the 3-mile race while Bri Rinn placed 18th-overall at 17:02.26.
Freshmen Zoey Nilsson was the third scorer for Utah in her collegiate debut, crossing the finish line in 17:27.74 for 23rd while twin sister Brielle Nilsson came in 27th with a mark of 17:37.82. Fellow freshmen Piper Simpson was the fifth scorer for the Women of Utah, crossing the finish line right behind B. Nilsson with a run of 17:38.90. Allie Bruce (18:09.41) and Lauren Ayers (18:28.22) rounded out the list of runners for Utah on Friday.

Utah won't have to travel too far next week as it sends a select few to compete at the Beehive Invitational on Thursday, Sept. 10, at Sugar House Park. Gun is slated to go off at 10 a.m. (MDT).
