PARK CITY, Utah – The Utah Ski Team had three slalom podiums as the Utes finished up their home meet on Monday at the Spencer F. Eccles Olympic Mountain Center with first place secured in the team standings.
Johs Braathen Herland and
Harry Hoffman went 2-3 in the men's race while
Kaja Norbye took silver in the women's competition. All told for the meet, Utah tallied 757 points on its home alpine and Nordic snow, with 188 points separating the Utes from Colorado (569). Denver rounded out the top three with 534.5 points.
In addition to the overall team standings, Utah led its home meet in alpine scoring (363) as well as broken out to women's alpine (180) and men's alpine (188).
Men's Race
Johs Braathen Herland (1:22.57) and
Harry Hoffman (1:23.06) went 2-3, while
Wilhelm Normannseth (1:23.48) took sixth to secure a meet-leading 98 men's slalom points for Utah.
Herland's silver medal came in part thanks to sitting second at the flip with an opening run time of 40.74 seconds. Hoffman had a nice climb in the final results, going from 13
th after the first run to bronze at the end of the day.
Oliver Parazette placed 15
th and
Sindre Myklebust was 16
th for Utah. Parazette also moved up in the final results, entering the afternoon in 24
th place before his second run time was fifth-best.
All of Utah's five men's starters finished, but it was a challenging course for the field as just 19 out of 48 RMISA participants finished both runs.
Women's Race
Kaja Norbye was top-five in both runs—including second at the break—to finish with a total time of 1:21.02, two-hundredths of a second behind Sara Rask of Denver.
Claire Timmermann (1:22.85) was in the top-five of the final results and
Evelina Fredricsson closed out the Utah scoring in seventh (1:23.59).
Melanie Dahlberg added a top-10 finish.

The Utes are off from alpine races for a little bit, before trekking up to Alaska for a combined trip. Utah will race in the Alaska Anchorage Invitational on February 19 and 21, while also completing the alpine portion of the RMISA Championships on February 20 and 22.
For Nordic, the Utes return to action this Sunday, February 16, with a classic sprint race in the Alaska Fairbanks Invitational. It'll be contested at Birch Hill in Fairbanks, Alaska.
