TEMPE, Ariz. – The Utah women's basketball team is now on a seven-game win streak thanks to a hot performance from beyond the arc in the Utes' 98-62 win over Arizona State.
The Utes knocked down 18 made three pointers for a new season high and broke Arizona State's record for most threes scored by an opponent. Utah was led by Gianna Kneepkens' double-double of 24 points and 12 rebounds. Kennady McQueen was a firecracker for Utah with season-high 20 points including six made from three to tie her career high.
Utah is now 20-5 overall on the season and 11-3 in Big 12 play. This is the fourth consecutive 20-win season and 33rd in school history.
GAME SUMMARY
Early in the first quarter, Gianna Kneepkens sank a three pointer to spark a 13-2 run for the Utes. Utah capitalized on the momentum to pull out for a 23-13 lead at the end of the initial 10 minutes of play.
Utah was able to maintain in the second quarter and kept the momentum. The Utes ended the second quarter on a 9-2 run to take a 49-34 lead going into halftime.
The Utes came out of halftime firing with a 7-0 run and outscored ASU 17-6 over a five minute span. Utah knocked down five three pointers in the third quarter to push their total to 16 at that point to break Arizona State's record for most threes scored by an opponent. To end the third quarter, Utah held a 76-49 lead.
Utah went on an 8-0 run early in the fourth quarter and the Utes never let up and held the Sun Devils scoreless for the final three minutes of the game. Utah pushed through to claim a 98-62 win over ASU.
LEADERS
Utah had four players score in double figures and were led by Gianna Kneepkens' double-double of 24 points and 12 rebounds. Kennady McQueen had a season-high 20 points. Matyson Wilke knocked down five from beyond the arc for 18 points while Mayé Touré added 12 points and eight rebounds for the Utes.
Jenna Johnson led Utah with six assists while Inês Vieira added five and Brooke Walker had four.
COMPARISON
Utah shot 53.3% from the field while Arizona State shot 34.4% from the field. Utah went 56.3% from deep making 18-of-32 while ASU went 31.3% shooting 5-of-16. The Utes went 16-of-20 from the free throw line for 80.0% while the Sun Devils went 13-of-19 for 68.4%.
Utah had 24 assists on 32 made field goals while Arizona State had seven assists on 22 made field goals. The Utes outrebounded the Sun Devils 44-31.
NOTABLES
Utah broke the record for most threes scored by an opponent with its 18 in the game. The record was previously 15 hit by three different opponents and most recently set by South Dakota earlier this season on Nov. 27, 2024.
The Utes' 18 threes also tied for sixth in the Big 12 record book for most threes made in a single game.
Kennady McQueen tied her career-high of made threes going 6-of-8 from deep. Matyson Wilke also tied her career high for made threes with five in the game.
Gianna Kneepkens 24 points and 12 rebounds marks her fourth career double-double.
Today's win over Arizona State marks the fourth consecutive 20-win season and 33rd in school history.

Utah will return to Salt Lake City to host Oklahoma State Feb. 18. Utah's last road trip of the regular season will start at Cincinnati Feb. 23 and end at West Virginia Feb. 26. The Utes final home game will be March 1 against rival BYU.
