STATESBORO, Ga. – The No. 12 University of Utah Men's Golf team secured its fourth tournament title of the season on Sunday, shooting 11-under for the second consecutive round to claim the 45
th Annual Schenkel Invitational first-place trophy.
"That was an amazing performance by our team," head coach
Garrett Clegg said. "It's not easy to travel across the country and play on Bermuda grass, which is way different than what we typically play on. It's hard to compete, let alone win. I'm just so proud of the way they played and the way they competed. Davis [Johnson] had a huge final round. He's been struggling a little bit, and to come out and shoot 66 was just absolutely rock solid and a huge part of why we won. You win as a team, and you need all five of our guys to play at a high level in order to get the win. Braxton [Watts] led us so now he's had two top five placements in our last three tournaments so he's playing great golf. Sergio [Jimenez] and Brandon [Robison] with another top 10 finish, so we had three guys finish in the top 10, just top to bottom, one through five, huge rounds from each of our guys. The boys were awesome, and it was fun to be a part of."
