SALT LAKE CITY – Former Utah track & field star Dinedye Denis will represent Côte d'Ivoire as a member of the 4x100m relay team this weekend at the 2025 World Relays inside Guangdong Olympic Stadium. This year's World Relays marks the first time the event has been held in China as the city of Guangzhou plays host.

A total of 43 federations and 730 athletes will be on hand to compete for a spot in this year's World Athletics Championships held inside the newly renovated New National Stadium – host venue for the 2020 Summer Olympic Games in Tokyo, Japan.
Denis joins former teammate
Josefine Eriksen at Guangdong Olympic Stadium as the two former Utes vie for a spot at this year's championships.
Heading into this weekend's competition, Denis is still holds the 60m indoor record (7.34) and 400m hurdles outdoor record (57.12) at Utah. She also ranks in the top-10 of the indoor 60m hurdles, 200m, 400m and 4x400m relay in addition to her top-10 marks in the outdoor 200m, 4x100m relay, 4x400m relay and SMR.
HOW IT WORKS
First round action is slated to begin on Saturday, May 10, with the top-two finishers in each of the four heats advancing to the finals and securing their spot for this year's championships in Tokyo. The remaining teams that didn't earn a spot in the finals will compete once again on Sunday, May 11, with the top-two teams in the remaining three heats earning a qualifying spot for the World Athletics Championships.
In addition to making the finals, the top-8 teams from day 1 will also be competing for prize money and have a chance to earn preferential lane seeding at the world championships.
