WEST VALLEY CITY, Utah— The Red Rocks bounced back at Best of Utah with their sixth-straight win in the annual quad-meet against in-state rivals Utah State, BYU, and Southern Utah that also earned them their highest score of the season, 197.300.
Â
Utah heads into a near two-week break on the right side of the win/loss column before leaving the state of Utah for the first time in 2026 to take on Iowa State on Jan. 25.

Â
"Bars was definitely the highlight, but also, for vault to go out and do another big set was, I think, very important for us," said head coach
Carly Dockendorf. "I told the team at the end—there were so many moments of greatness this weekend. We never did a vault lineup like that last year—not like we did today or on Saturday, obviously. Even on bars, we didn't do a lineup like that, so for us to do that this early, there is so much potential on this team. Obviously, we need to do four events at some point, but those are two events to go really big on and be consistent on."
Â
Like the Sprouts meet on Saturday, the Red Rocks started on beam, but with a much better result.
Â
Senior
Makenna Smith posted a 9.85 toward the beginning of the lineup that the Utes continued to grow upon with freshman
Abbi Ryssman earning a 9.90, senior
Ana Padurariu notching a 9.875, and junior
Camie Winger adding a 9.80.
Â
After round one, Utah took the lead with a 49.075 team score followed by BYU (49.00), and USU and SUU tied for third (48.900).
Â
Floor proved to be an improvement over Sprouts as well (49.225), with sophomore
Avery Neff earning a 9.875, junior
Ella Zirbes adding a 9.925, senior
Sarah Krump posting a 9.825, and Smith putting the exclamation on the rotation with a 9.90.
Â
Utah kept the lead after the second rotation (98.300) with BYU remaining in second (97.975), Utah State taking sole possession of third (97.900), and Southern Utah dropping to fourth (97.650).
Â
The Red Rocks continued to build momentum into vault (49.375) with Zirbes posting a 9.875, senior
Ashley Glynn a 9.85, Smith a massive 9.95, sophomore
Zoe Johnson a 9.80, and Neff wrapping up with a 9.90.
Â
Round three is where Utah separated themselves from the pack with a 147.675 first place score while Utah State jumped up to second (146.825), BYU dropped down to third (146.725), and Southern Utah stayed solid in fourth (146.625).
Â
Bars proved to be the Red Rocks' best effort of the meet (49.625) as Ryssman capped off a career night with a 9.925 followed by another 9.925 from Padurariu. Zirbes added a 9.95 while freshman
Bailey Stroud also posted a career-high 9.925, and Neff put a bow on the night with a 9.90.
Â
Utah's slow build gives it bragging rights for another year with the final results putting the Red Rocks on top (197.300), USU in second (195.825), BYU in third (195.725), and SUU in fourth (195.675).
