FAYETTEVILLE, Ark. – The Utah track & field team closed out the first day at the NCAA Indoor Track & Field Championships on a high note with its DMR team repeating as All-Americans in the event on Friday evening inside the Randal Tyson Track Center.
Bri Rinn opened the day's competition for Utah in the mile semifinals and just missed out on qualifying despite running the eighth-fastest time overall at 4:37.82. Her time in the mile at the championships became the fastest mark by a Ute in that event at the NCAA Indoor Championships.
In the 200m dash semifinals, sophomore
Chelsea Amoah placed third in her heat and 13th-overall with a run of 23.08. After crossing that finish line, Amoah officially became Utah's first sprinter to compete at the indoor championships.
Utah's DMR team of Rinn,
Emily Martin,
Kyla Martin and
Erin Vringer closed out the night repeating as First-Team All-Americans when they finished the race seventh-overall with a combined time of 10:52.58 – which would've been the second-fastest time in program history had that same group not run the sixth-fastest time in the NCAA last year.
UP NEXT
Erin Vringer will conclude Utah's time at the NCAA Indoor Championships on Saturday, March 14, when she toes the line for the 3000m finals at 5:10 p.m. (MDT) on ESPN+.
