JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – Two Utah lacrosse student-athletes earned Atlantic Sun Conference weekly awards following the Utes' 16-7 on the road win over Marquette last Wednesday, the league office announced Monday.
Luke McNamara was selected as the ASUN Offensive Player of the Week for the second time this season and
Nikko DiPonio was selected as the conference's Defensive Player of the Week for the fourth time in 2026 and third week in a row after Utah's fourth consecutive win.
This marks the fourth time during the 2026 season that Utah has swept ASUN weekly awards, also doing each of the last two weeks and after the win in the season opener against Delaware.
McNamara led the Utes with five goals against the Golden Eagles. He tallied nine shots on the day, six of which were on goal, and nabbed a ground balls. The sophomore's fifth goal of the day gave him 30 on the season, the first Division I player to hit that mark this season. McNamara leads the nation in goals, ranks second in goals per game (4.29) and 19th in points per game (4.57).
DiPonio, the Preseason ASUN Defensive Player of the Year, once again led Utah's defensive charge by nabbing a team-high 10 ground balls against Marquette. DiPonio and the Utes held the Golden Eagles to just seven goals, which tied for the fewest scores by the team this season.
DiPonio now has four games this season with four or more CTs and four outings with five or more GBs. He leads the ASUN with 20 caused turnovers - five more than any other player in the league - and boasts a conference-best 2.86 CTs per game while ranking third with 42 ground balls. In his last three outings, DiPonio has recorded 34 GBs and nine CTs.
This marks the sixth career weekly award for DiPonio, the most by any Utah Ute in program history.
