JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – Senior goalkeeper
Colin Lenskold was named the Atlantic Sun Defensive Player of the Week following the Utes' 9-8 win on the road win over Jacksonville, the league office announced Monday.
This marks the second career conference weekly award for Lenskold and the first since his freshman season in The Wilton, Conn., native earned a spot on the All-ASUN Second Team a season ago. Utah has won 10 weekly awards from the ASUN this season, the most in the conference, and has now taken home Defensive Player of the Week nods in back-to-back weeks.
Lenskold matched his season high with 13 saves and held Jacksonville to a season low in goals to help Utah improve to 3-0 in ASUN play and clinch a spot in the conference tournament. Two of his 13 saves came in the last 31 seconds of play, including a game-saving stop on a shot from distance with just five seconds left in regulation. In his best game of his senior campaign, Lenskold recorded a .619 save percentage and nabbed three ground balls, his fifth game this season with multiple GBs.
Lenskold has tallied 100 saves so far this season and sports an 8-3 record in goal. He sports a .490 save percentage and his 10.58 goals allowed average through 11 games is the best of his career. Lenskold owns the Utah program record with 625 career saves.
