HUTCHINSON, Kan.-- Utah Golf hung on in the third and final day of play at the Big 12 Championship for a sixth-place finish, carding a 1-over par for round four, and 15-over for the entire tournament.
The fourth round proved to be tough on the 16-team field with the Utes recording the third-best score of the day to finish their time in Kansas strong.
Utah was led by another tremendous effort from junior
Sergio Jimenez, who
after tying a Big 12 Championship record the previous day, carded a 3-under 67, and a 7-under total score to take sole possession of third place as an individual.
"For the last 45 holes, Sergio played absolutely amazing golf," head coach
Garrett Clegg said. "To tie the tournament record with a third-round 63 was just absolutely incredible. One of the best rounds of golf I've ever witnessed. Then to follow that up today with a 3-under par 67—it was huge for, obviously, for our team score, but it was pretty amazing for him to do that and finish third in the conference championship which is a great finish."

Jack Jerge and
Gabriel Palacios added another pair of matching scores, going 2-over 72 in the fourth round, and 10-over total each through the Big 12 Championship.
"Our last 36 holes were really, really good," coach Clegg said. "I mean, each of our players just fought like crazy. It was not easy at all today. It was extremely difficult out there. The greens were tough, the whole location was brutal, but I'm really proud of our team, and how they all finished. All five guys played amazing golf."
