SALT LAKE CITY – Redshirt senior
Ryan Stines and senior
Nikko DiPonio both tabbed as Honorable Mention Midseason All-Americans by Inside Lacrosse, the organization announced Friday.
The duo has continued to rack up national recognition for the Utes this season. Stines was unanimously voted the ASUN Preseason Offensive Player of the Year, DiPonio was a unanimous selection for Defensive Player of the Year, and both were added to the Tewaaraton Award Watch List last week.
Stines leads Utah with 43 points, the 12th most in the nation, on 25 goals and 18 assists. He broke the program's career points record against Virginia, notching his 217th career point with a first-quarter goal. His 3.00 goals per game so far this year are the ninth-best in Division I, while his 4.78 points per game lead the ASUN. He sits 17 goals shy of setting the program's career scoring record and 25 assists shy of the Utah career assists record.
One of the nation's best long poles, DiPonio leads the nation with 3.00 caused turnovers per game and 18th with 6.22 ground balls per game. The senior has led a defensive unit that allows just 10.00 goals per contest, causes 12.78 turnovers per game – the second most nationally – and collects a NCAA-leading 40.00 ground balls per game. DiPonio has been the top position player in ground balls per game each of the last three seasons and was the only position player to finish in the top 25 in both 2024 and 2025.
