SALT LAKE CITY – Seniors
Ryan Stines and
Nikko DiPonio have earned All-America Honorable Mention recognition from Inside Lacrosse and the Nike Lacrosse media, the organization announced Saturday.
DiPonio, who was named the Atlantic Sun Defensive Player of the Year for the second season in a row last week, was named an All-America Honorable Mention by USA Lacrosse this week. This marks the second career All-America nod for Stines, this season's ASUN Offensive Player of the Year, after earning honorable mention honors as a sophomore in 2024.
Stines started all 14 games for the Utes during his redshirt senior campaign, tallying 64 points on 39 goals and 25 assists. His 64 points ranked as the third most in a single season in program history while his 39 scores ranking seventh and assist total ranking fifth. He set the Utah program record with 243 career points – 27 more than any player before him – and ranks second all time in both goals and assists.
DiPonio also started all 14 games for Utah this season, causing a program-record 37 turnovers and nabbing 85 ground balls to go with a goal and five assists. He ranked second nationally and led the ASUN with 2.64 caused turnovers per game and ranked 21st nationally with 6.08 ground balls per game, the highest mark among position players. The Bloomfield Hills, Mich., native tallied 108 caused turnovers during his four-year Utah career, becoming the first Utah Ute to ever eclipse 100. He also becomes just the second player in program history to nab more than 300 ground balls and is the first non-FOGO to do so.
The two became the first Utah Utes ever selected in the Premier Lacrosse League College Draft, with Stines going ninth overall to the Utah Archers and DiPonio being selected 24th overall by the New York Atlas. Both made their professional debuts on Friday night, with Stines scoring a goal and an assist in his debut against the California Redwoods while DiPonio caused a turnover and nabbed two ground balls in a 16-12 win over the Carolina Chaos.
