SALT LAKE CITY – Utah left fielder
Jake Long, a native of Whittier, California, has been named to the 2026 ABCA/Rawlings West All-Region Second Team, announced on Tuesday.
Â
All-Region awards are voted on by area head coaches. Long is the third Utah player to earn All-Region accolades in the last three seasons.
Â
Long, also named All-Big 12 Second Team, started all 51 games for the Utes this past season. He was one of the Big 12's most improved players from 2025, showing huge upside in batting average (.263 to .374), slugging (.329 to .626), OBP (.347 to .445), doubles (eight to 16), home runs (one to 11) and RBIs (21 to 58).
Â
During the regular season, he ranked ninth in the Big 12 in batting average, eighth in hits, fourth in hits per game and 11
th in RBIs. His rankings in league play were even more impressive, finishing seventh in the Big 12 in batting average (.380), second in hits (49) and tied for third in doubles (11).
Â
He had a 21-game hitting streak from Feb. 22 through March 31, the longest at Utah since 2011. During that hitting streak, Long hit for the cycle against Kansas State on March 29. It made Long just the third player in Utah history to accomplish the feat and first player outside the SEC to do it this season.
Â
Long's prowess at the plate helped the Utes to a .307 team batting average, the highest for Utah since 2008. During the regular season, the club's average ranked third in the Big 12 and 24
th in the country.
Â
The cycle against K-State for Long helped Utah secure its third of four straight series victories to open America First Ballpark. Overall for the season, the Utes finished with 16 wins on their home diamond, the most for the program since at least the 1991 season.
