Utah Golf Tied Fourth at Jackson T. Stephens Cup

SALT LAKE CITY– The Utah Golf team opened its 2026-27 season tied for fourth through two rounds of play in day one of the Jackson T. Stephens Cup, while Guatemalan sensation Gabriel Palacios finished the day tied for first place.
Utah ended the first day of play in Frisco, Texas, 8-over (584) to tie with SMU after rounds one and two of stroke play.
Palacios led the charge for the Utes, finishing day one 6-under (138) and was particularly phenomenal in round two where he carded 4-under (68). Round one was also a solid effort for the Utah senior who took a 2-under (70) to club house to start the day.
Fellow senior Jack Jerge was next in line for Utah, tying 14 on the day and posting 2-over (146). Sergio Jimenez was third in the Utes' lineup tying 16th overall with a 3-over (147).
Newcomers to the Utah starting five, Ivan Enguita and Will Pizza, posted 9-over (153) and 11-over (155) in their collegiate debuts, ending day one at the Jackson T. Stephens Cup at 30 and 34 respectively.

TOURNAMENT DETAILS
The Jackson T. Stephens Cup is named in memory of the late Augusta National Golf Club Chairman, Jackson T. Stephens.
The tournament is a three-day stroke and match play event featuring NCAA Division I National Championship-contending men's and women's teams and top players from Historically Black Colleges and Universities and United States Military Service Academies.
Days one and two of the Stephens Cup will consist of 54 total holes of stroke play before switching to 18 holes of team match play on the third day of the event.
The first 54 holes of stroke play will determine the seeding for the fields on the final day of match play, with the low four teams advancing to match play competition.
