BOULDER, Colo.– Utah Golf finished its time at the Mark Simpson Invitational in seventh place after carding a final tally of 2-over (842) as a team.
Â
The Utes had three players finish under par through 56 holes of play with Gabriel Palacios going 3-under (207), and Sergio Jimenez and Jack Jerge going 2-under (208) each.
Â
Round three proved to be tough for the Utes with Jerge doing the best at 1-over (71), Palacios posting 2-over (72), Jimenez going 3-over (73), Rex Wilson carding 4-over (74), and Ivan Enguita wrapping things up at 5-over (75) on the day.
Â
Utah did enough in rounds one and two on Tuesday to overcome a rough day on the green to finish in the top 10 of the Mark Simpson Invitational.
"We didn't have the day we wanted to finish at the Mark Simpson Invitational," head coach Garrett Clegg said. "Gabo was our best performer, but he didn't have his best day today, unfortunately. It was a tough learning week for our team. We do have a short turnaround to the Hamptons Intercollegiate and need to get ourselves right quickly. It will be another test, we will be without Sergio next week while he plays int he DP World Tour Event in Spain and will need some younger players to step up."
