On what he said in the first timeout when the team was down by 10 …
I don’t think there was a whole lot to be said. We missed three bunnies at the rim that rolled in and out. It wasn't the end of the world. I just didn't like the look on our guys faces, kind of got punched in the mouth but responded. We have had a couple games recently where we have spotted some teams. Arizona was awesome getting out of the locker room. Arizona State game had a bunch of swings to it. It obviously wasn't a great start for us. I just tried to get the guys settled down and made a couple substitutions. Once we made a shot, the crowd was sitting there for quite a spell trying to get excited about it. We just had to make sure we continued to play hard. Hopefully they were going to miss some shots and we were going to get a chance. Certainly not the start we were looking for.Â
Â
On multiple players being in double-figures and shooting 50% …
I mean I didn't imagine much. I felt like our team could be pretty balanced and share the basketball. Certainly with Sed and Dave, the first couple games that they played for us, we had to be only team in America that had seven guys in double figures. I know it was kind of a fluke with the limited games they played and they jumped into our lineup. I think we still have six averaging in double figures and I am not sure if you are going to find many teams in college that have that going on. It is fun to be a part of. I mentioned it the last couple weeks, I heard it on TV and I loved it. Sometimes it’s me, sometimes it’s you but it is always we. That kind of concept for our team is good. We have nice combination post plays. Guys are making threes, a little bit of versatility. It is harder to scout, what it boils down to. I remember Colorado when I first got here and they won the Pac-12 tournament. The thing I was so impressed with by their team was they had five guys that averaged in double figures. When you went into the scouting report, you didn't know where to start. It was such a balanced attack. I think that certainly that it is a nice thing to have.

On attacking the hoop …
We weren't exactly sure how they were going to start the lineup and they went with the smaller lineup, more shooters on the floor. We had spent some time for the Arizona State game. We kind of bounced back to that mentality, let’s get the ball inside. WE missed some of those early bunnies. It was a little deflating. But our guys, Devon does a heck of a job off the bounce, Lorenzo, Sedrick, when people play off him, he is capable of making shots and then JoJo. We got them in the bonus pretty quick in the second half and that was one of those things we talked about. Let’s not settle for jump shots, let’s keep putting the heat on them. I do think that this is one of those situations, I noticed it, that elevation comes into play. I have seen it now for six years when teams come into this elevation. The majority of our conference is all sea level type teams. They had a little burst to start with but you see guys were stating to wear out a little bit. I think that has something to do with it. The aggressive nature and second half, we get flowing. Our basket is in front of our bench. We got some things going once we rebounded. The first half was a disaster. They had ten offensive rebounds but once we started taking care of the defensive board because they send so many people to the glass, there were some opportunities for us going the other way.Â

On the horrible start and bouncing back …
I think the start was a little bit, I don't know, it was weird. Defensively, we weren't that good but we had a lot of rim outs. My layup was a rim out, my three was a rim out. Dave had a couple. The rim was just closed for us at the start and then it finally opened up.Â
Â
On what happened in the first time out …
The message was we were taking good shots but the rim didn’t like us. They just kept telling us to play defense and go hard. It helped us.Â
Â
On being 8-1 on the boards in the first part of the game …
I feel like they gave up a little bit in the second half. They stopped running. Our zone really flustered them. They weren't really playing defense because their shots weren't falling. We were able to capitalize with them not trying to go to the offensive boards like they did in the first half.Â
Â
On defending Elijah Stewart and Jordan McLaughlin …
The zone affected Stewart a little bit. He is used to getting wide open threes and driving lanes. McLaughlin, I think he just had an off night. He is a great player. He missed a couple.Â
Â
On moving forward …
We have to focus on the Bruins. They are one of the best teams in the country. They have a lot of horse power. We have to be ready to guard them. We have to see what it is they do.Â
Â
Junior Forward David Collette
Â
On making the zone work …
A lot of practice, just working at it and making sure we are in the right spots. Most times on a zone, teams get threes out of it. But we try to emphasize taking away the three point shot. It definitely takes a lot of work trying to get the rotations down.Â
Â
On being scouted by other teams …
It is really hard. When you go into a game where you have so many guys averaging double figures, who do you guard? It is kind of hard. For us, we try to take the best two players out of the other team. It is impossible to take the best six players out of a team. It helps alot.Â
Â
On the match up with Chimenzie Metu …
He is a good player. I try not to pay attention with who they are but I try and look at their tendencies and how I can guard them the best I can. He is definitely a good player. He has a good jump shot and he is good at posting up. He has a big body, he's athletic. It was a good challenge. Â

Â
On the game…
We just have to do a better job of understanding what it takes to win on the road. We got off to a good start defensively. I thought our guys played a little anxious when they [Utah] started going on a run and the crowd started getting into it. We missed a lot of easy shots and then we forced a lot of shots. Then we missed free throws. It’s one thing not to guard them and it is one thing to miss shots at the same time. We just have to get better.
Â
On the defense game plan…
Collette hadn’t made a three. Devon Daniels had made two I think on the year, so when you have Daniels go 3-for-3 in a game and Collette make his first one, and players that aren’t normally great shooters shoot that high of a percentage that is hard because you are trying to take certain things away and when they do make shots it does hurt your defense. I thought Collette did a nice job of being physical. He is a fourth year player, a transfer and did a nice job being physical inside. We had a lot of guys tonight that didn’t set ourselves inside and we missed a lot of layups and a lot of easy shots. You cant allow teams when you are on the road to go on big runs and I thought the lack of our defensive effort as well as our struggles offensively allowed them to go on too big of runs because of that.
Â
On offensive slump…
Every player usually goes through some kind of a slump or streakiness during the season. Unfortunate for our team right now we had three or four guys as of tonight that didn’t shoot the ball well. It is hard when your four starters go 7-32. At Oregon, the first three guys on the stat sheet were 3-for-34 including their turnovers. It is difficult. You are much more energetic on the defensive end when you make shots. You get frustrated, you get down on yourself sometimes but our players have to be mature. They have to understand if they put more time in the gym and keep playing hard they will be fine. We’ve got to snap out of it quick.
