On being down 18-10 and calling the first timeout…
I didn't say much. There wasn't a whole lot to say. It was pretty ugly. We were getting man handled in the post and throwing the ball all over the gym. I thought I was on an episode of bloopers, Punk’d. They were throwing it to them out on the wing and then they go and lay in it in. I thought about calling a timeout and then they do it again. Some of that stuff you can’t make up. I appreciate all the people coming out and watching up. The product is not exactly sharp right now. We got things and made a few plays. But we have some issues that we need to solve. They are solvable though.

On having 15 turnovers …
We had six of those in the first four minutes, I think. I am fine with the second half. We had five. It has been our deal. That is on me as a coach for sure. I am going to do everything I can when we set foot on the court next time in practice. I am going to ask our guys to do the same thing. There is different kind of turnovers. I can tolerate an illegal screen, a three second call, maybe if someone gets trapped. That is the type I can handle. It’s the one where you look like you are point shaving and throwing balls to the opposition to let them take off and go the other way. Its mindless stuff. Those ones I have a problem with. Between myself and the team, we are going to try and get that element fixed.
Â
On making 11 three pointers tonight …
It was great. I think Zo had a few. They were primarily zone all night. We worked pretty lengthy yesterday on some zone specials. You'd probably anticipate more three’s versus a zone. Although we did a nice job on getting the ball inside as well. Parker has been on fire in practice. I know he was 1-6 on Thursday. But every one of those, we watched on film, they are down on the rim and coming back out. He's been dialed in. It was good, we moved the basketball. We had 20 plus assists tonight so those are from an offensive point of view. If we don’t turn it over, I like what we are doing. We are one of the more efficient teams from two. Anytime you can get close to double figures from the three point line, that is a pretty good tone for our offense.
Â
On going on a run after the first time out…
I know our guys were playing really hard, obviously if the other team is not scoring. I think it starts with the defensive sides of things. It is easier to defend people when you are not trying to defend turnovers. Anytime you shut someone out for a period of time, you start with the defense. I remember when we came out of that timeout, we ran a couple pick and roll plays in the middle of the floor and hit two consecutive threes. All of a sudden it went from a eight point deficit to a two. That gave us a little spark. We had way too much standing on the perimeter, just kind of passing the ball around, thirty feet from the basket. No one was doing anything. Then once we got into the paint, good stuff happened.

On making three’s tonight…
I think the hoop just opened up a little bit bigger (today). Last game, we took some good shots. A lot of them were right there, they just didn't go in. That’s how basketball goes, as long as we stay positive. We came and had a good practice yesterday, had a good shoot around today, stay confident and shots will fall.
Â
On his view on the first timeout…
We just needed to be better. That was the most intense he had been all year. I think it was needed. We needed to play smarter and harder. We were just being outplayed in every aspect of the game. He got it out of us. We came back and went on a big run. It feels good. We needed some motivation.
Â
On going on the run after the timeout…
We stopped turning the ball over so much. That sting when they went on that run, we just kept turning the ball over. It is harder to defend the ball on turnovers. We took care of the ball and rebounded the ball. We only gave them one shot attempt and made easy shots on the other side. That is our Achilles heel and is something we need to continue to work on is just not turning get ball over.Â
Â
On playing more…
I am definitely a lot more comfortable. As the season goes on, as you continue to be coached and play and practice every day to work on your game, things are going to go your way. I am just really fortunate to play here. My teammates and coaches have done a great job in helping me out be a better player. I’ve really enjoyed it. It has been a fun couple of weeks.

Â
On having some of the team’s top players out…
Take away the 23-1 run, I thought our guys did a very good job. Without Markelle we have to play a certain way, and when we were executing and taking the right shots we were doing fine. But when we strayed away from our game plan, Utah took over because they are such an efficient team.
Â
On Utah’s efficiency from the perimeter…
They were definitely shooting the basketball well. They play inside-out basketball, they’re a very opportunistic basketball team, they also grind into you until you make a mistake.
Â
On what he told his team during the 23-1 run…
We didn’t want to use all of our timeouts in the first half, so when we did call a timeout, we would talk to them about their shot selection and the way they were handling the basketball. Just mainly talking about taking care of the basketball, and we just couldn’t do it.
Â
On the difference in defensive effort from the first time they played Utah…
We had lapses, there was no doubt about that. Last time we played them they mainly just beat us off of the dribble, and we really clamped down on that today, making them have 10 turnovers in the first half. We were a lot more active.
