On Boise State…
They are a good team. They have been in a little bit of a similar situation that we were with a lot of new faces and they lost a kid to the draft early. They have done a really good job. They have a lot of weapons. We were good in that basketball game for 32 minutes. It is kind of the story of our season with the turnovers. There were combined 17 turnovers in the game just mindless ones, not sure what we were thinking in trying to making plays and then there were missed shots around the rim. That’s a deadly combination. Then they felt the first threes going in and their bigs beat us up at the end and blocked some shots. They out physicaled us doing the stretch. It’s disheartening.

On (Chandler) Hutchinson scoring 34 points…
I think that has happened four or five times this year to the Utes. That is not exactly something I am proud of. Our coaching staff is not proud of to not have the ability to lock down on somebody when they are the head of the snake and what makes them go. He made some really difficult shots, got himself going. We didn't step up and make plays. He is a terrific ball player.
Â
On the effort tonight…
I didn't have a problem with the effort. I don’t know if there is really anything that deflates you. It’s not just the players, it’s the arena, its the momentum and mojo in the building when you get into some of those turnovers. I have said it before, you disrespect the game, trying to get flashy and do somethings rather than do some plays. We spread them around, there were too many of them. Each one of those possessions is worth a point as we know for our team. Our offensive efficiency is pretty good, actually it is over a point for possession. Some of those turnovers, 17 points off of our turnovers. Some of those are impossible to defend. It wasn't as much of an effort thing. We have talked since I have been here to play hard, play smart and play together. I thought we played 90% of the game pretty hard. We didn't play really smart and there were some break downs where we didn't share the ball. As far as playing together, I thought we forced some things and didn't finish strong around the rim. But I’m really going to get into the effort. I think the effort was there. Teams are typically going to play harder when you don’t put so much heat on yourself offensively. There’s not a team I know of that can turn the ball over and get back with the defensive mindset and do what you need to do when you are not taking care of things offensively.

On the turnovers being a struggle this season…
I need to take a good look at what we we doing. Maybe I am not putting guys in position. I’m not in the position to start throwing the blame around. There are different kinds of turnovers. We had really mindless ones today. There was no reason we threw the ball to them. I’ll look when the season is over and evaluate some of those turnovers. You have illegal screens, things like that. Maybe a little more palliable than trying to force passes in ares they aren't there. Some of it is going to be on our guys skill development to improve that. It obviously has to be a focal point. We kind of went through that. We had that stretch of the season, I thought we were getting better at it then we reverted back to some of our old habits tonight. I don’t know if the team has been consistent throughout. It has been a little bit of a roller coaster ride.

On his thoughts at the end of the game…
We just let one slip. It felt like we had a good opportunity coming out of the half to open the gates and even in the last six minutes of the game. Boise deserves all the credit. They beat us. They made key plays and buckets down in the stretch. We just couldn't stop their one guy.
Â
On trying to stop (Chandler) Hutchinson…
We had the same game plan the whole game. We were just really betting on him to miss those tough shots at the rim. He is a hell of a player. He stepped up to the challenge and beat us.

On the game…
It was a great game and great win. It is gratifying for these guys because it was a good team effort. You look at how Marcus [Dickinson] stepped up and we were really challenging those big guys in the first half because we were getting eaten alive because they have good bigs. I wanted our guys to be a little more aggressive and then Zach Haney really stepped up in that second half and he really helped our zone and made some timely buckets. That is the Zach Haney that we need and that makes a big difference for us.
Â
On Hutchinson’s performance…
I told the guys at halftime that we need to help Chandler because he carried us through the first half and then we got help because you can’t expect that in the second half. He had the big bucket that got us a little bit a room to finish off the game and that was huge for us.
Â
On getting inside the paint…
Utah really wanted to take away our three and they do a good job of that. They switch everything and so we said that if we could just move them a little more, then we will be able to drive and that is what we did. Credit to our guys, the right guys were driving and finishing. I just liked the way we were pretty aggressive and it worked out for us.
Â
On moving on in the postseason…
The neat thing is we come in to Utah, and I respect what coach Krystkowiak and staff because they are a well-coached team and they are a good basketball team, so we knew we had to play our hearts out to win this game. I just had a good feel for where our team was and how we were going to play, but I didn’t know it was enough to win but it was. At the end we were fortunate to make some shots.
