Charlie King is in his fourth year at the University of Utah and has seen a lot of success while coaching at the collegiate and high school levels. Beginning as a volunteer coach at St. Cloud State University in Minnesota in 1999, King moved onto becoming the head coach at St. Cloud Apollo High School and later the assistant women[apos]s and men[apos]s coach at Monticello High School, where he helped swimmers to numerous men[apos]s and women[apos]s top 8 state finishes and a men[apos]s 100 fly state championship. He left Monticello High to help co-coach the Monticello Swim Club. From 1998 to 2004, he assisted athletes to sectional and zone qualifications, 3 state records, and 6 different state championships. He also saw one qualifier for Junior Nationals. Since 2004, King has been on staff at the Stanford International Swim Camp, helping coach athletes with Olympic swim coaches Skip Kenney and Richard Quick as well as Olympic Medalist Lea Maurer. King returned to St. Cloud State University as assistant men[apos]s and women[apos]s coach for two years and trained his team to 9 All-America titles and 9 school records. He is coming to Utah from Milikin University in Illinois, where he spent the last year as head men[apos]s and women[apos]s coach and aquatics director.
King graduated from St. Cloud University with his degree in social sciences and secondary education, with an emphasis on history. He also minored in coaching. He also has completed his Master of Science in Sports Management degree.
