Jordan Taylor officially joined head coach Jonas Persson's staff as an assistant coach in April of 2023.
Taylor works with Utah's super sprint group and is in charge of the program's women's recruiting. His coaching helped Erin Palmer reach the US Olympic Trials in 2024 and Palmer also owns the third-fastest time in Utah history in the 50 free. Taylor worked with the Utes' women's 200 free relay quartet that set a new school record in 2023-24, as well as with Reagan Cathcart, who logged multiple top 10 times that put her in the Utah record book. His hard work with the men's 50 free swimmers led to nearly all of them dropping time off their marks during the 2023-24 campaign.
Taylor joins Persson’s staff after spending seven seasons as the head coach of the swimming program at Carson-Newman University and during his tenure, he led the program to numerous milestones. The Eagles were nationally ranked each of his seven years there, placed inside the top 10 at the NCAA Championships three times and had over 100 student-athletes achieve All-American status, including more than 50 First-Team All-Americans.
At the conference level, Taylor has coached 19 league champions and finished in the top three at the conference championships in each of his seven seasons. He’s also seen 60 of his pupils named Academic All-Americans, one capture the NCAA’s Elite 90 Award and won Carson-Newman’s Director’s Cup in 2018 as the top academic team on campus.
Prior to his time at Carson-Newman, Taylor was the lead coach of the Warrender Baths Club, Scotland's most successful and largest swimming club. He coached a squad consisting of 19 domestic and international swimmers.
Competitively, Taylor garnered Scottish national titles in multiple events. He also swam for the Scottish national team during his career and was ranked the third-best swimmer in Britain in his main events as an age group swimmer. During his time at University of Edinburgh, the school's swimming program won the British university/collegiate team title at the national championship in 2010.
He earned his college degree at the University of Edinburgh, graduating with honors and with a Bachelor's of Science degree in Applied Sports Science.
