PROVO, Utah - The Utes were 0-3 against Brigham Young this weekend losing the final game of the three-game series 4-2. The sweep brings Utah's season record to 13-17, with a 4-7 Mountain West Conference mark. The Utes scored two runs on eight hits with three errors, while BYU scored four runs on nine hits with no errors.
Brigham Young led the game scoring two runs in the bottom of the second on a triple, double and single combination. The Cougars came back to score two more runs in the bottom of the fifth on a double and a single. The Utes were only able to post two runs during the game in the top of the sixth inning. Sophomore Adam Castleton singled to centerfield and was brought in on back-to-back triples by Sam Swenson and Jed Chrisman.
Chrisman swung 3-for-3 in the game with one RBI and Swenson hit 2-for-4 scoring one run and one RBI.
Jon Lewis picks up his first loss of the season to bring his record to 2-1. Lewis pitched the first 4.2 innings of the game facing 25 batters. He allowed seven hits and two earned runs, he also struck out two batters.
The Utes continue Mountain West Conference play when they host New Mexico March 31-April 2 at Franklin Covey Field.
