SALT LAKE CITY - In an amazing come from behind victory, the Utah baseball team defeated Air Force 7-5 today. The Utes boost their season record to 24-27 with a 14-14 Mountain West Conference record. The loss drops the Falcons to 20-31 and 5-22 in the conference.
Utah battled through five scoreless innings while giving Air Force five runs in the first half of the game to enter the sixth inning with a 5-0 deficit. The Utes struggled back however scoring two runs in the bottom of the sixth on a two-shot home run by centerfielder Sam Swenson - his 11th of the season.
Utah came back to lead Air Force scoring five runs in the bottom of the seventh on four singles, a sacrifice fly by catcher Donald Hawes and a double by first baseman Nate Weese. Neither the Utes or the Falcons tallied runs in the last two innings leaving Utah with the 7-5 victory. A heated eighth inning resulted in the ejection of Air Force Head Coach Reed Peters and first baseman Chris Humphrey.
