Provo, Utah - Only one Ute remained in the final day of the BYU Invitational. Utah's Ellen Svennson took on BYU's 2001 all-conference player and No. 21 ranked Dominique Reynolds for the Flight 1 Backdraw Championship. After three close sets Svennson defeated Reynolds, 7-6, 4-6, 10-7. This was a great victory for Svennson knowing that Reynolds was ranked No. 11 in the Central Region last year.
In other singles competition, BYU's Lindsay Ferrell and Lu Oswald battled against each other for the Flight 1 Championship. Oswald fell to Ferrell, 7-6, 6-4. Bobbe Vasas from Colorado State and Boise State's Alissa Ayling went face to face in the Flight 2 Backdraw Championship. Vasos defeated Ayling, 7-5, 6-3.
Next up Utah will travel to Tulsa, Okla. to compete in the Central Region Championship. This event will be held Oct. 24-28 and times are still to be decided.
