San Diego, Calif. - The No. 14 ranked University of Utah women's volleyball team lost to San Diego State in five games, 27-30, 30-25, 30-23, 30-32, 13-15, in San Diego, Calif. on Fri., Nov. 9. The Utes drop to 18-5 overall, 10-3 in MWC play. The Aztecs improve to 15-9 overall, 9-4 in the MWC.

Teammate Katrena Ellett was perfect with 12 kills, zero errors for a .632 hitting percentage and six total blocks. Senior Alisa Geddes had 11 kills and 19 digs, while McKelle Stilson notched 13 kills for a .346 hitting percentage. Kim Turner totaled 19 kills for a .692 hitting percentage and nine blocks, and Adrianne Drake added 12 digs and seven blocks. Jackie Morrill and Kelsie Kartcher combined for 68 assists in the match. As a team, Utah hit for .318 and out-blocked the Aztecs, 16.0-12.0.
Katie Magnuson led the Aztecs with 14 kills and a game-high 21 digs. Zlatina Anguelova notched 13 kills and 10 digs, while Aspen McPartland added 11 kills, respectively. San Diego State had a .160 hitting percentage in the match.
"We should have never been in a game five with them," said Head Coach Beth Launiere. "They (SDSU) played well, but we gave up 21 service errors and made some mistakes on our side of the net that shouldn't have happened. We knew going into this match that we were going to have to serve well and we didn't. Our team knew what we needed to do to win this match and we didn't do it."
UP NEXT: The Utes will face the UNLV Rebels on Sat., Nov. 10 in Las Vegas, Nev. At 7:00 p.m.
