OKLAHOMA CITY, Okla.- The Utes swimming teams finished up the third day of competition with the women in fourth place and the men in fifth place going into the final day of the meet.
The Ute women landed three swimmers in the top six in the 200 free. Neringa Statkeviciute finished second and provisionally qualified for the NCAA with a time of 1:49.69. Freshman Loren Sweny (1:51.71) and Courtney McKinney (1:51.82) finished fourth and fifth respectively, while Sara Afong took ninth (1:52.45).
In the 100 breast, Tessa Greegor provisionally qualified for the NCAA with a time of 1:02.98, which was good enough to take second. Phoenix Fribourg finished seventh (1:05.52) and Melissa Chamberlin took 12th (1:06.54) in the event.
For the men, Evan Castro finished fourth in the 100 breast (56.16), while Daniel Godfrey finished 11th (58.15), Jacob Burton (58.41) and John Carlile (58.46) took 13th and 14th respectively and Trent Shino finished 16th (59.39). In the 100 fly, Stephen Linge finished fifth (50.01).
