THE UTES: Last week, Utah came up short against No. 52 ranked New Mexico, 4-3. "We failed to finish our leads," said Head Coach John Tsumas. The Lobos were the 10th nationally ranked opponent the Utes have competed against this season. In singles, Linn Ronnberg held two set point leads before being defeated by Tjasa Suvak, 7-6, 6-0. Cassie Kasteler notched Michelle Heidbrink, 7-6, 6-2 and freshman Allison Hansen was up 4-3 before losing her lead to Courtney Choate. Hansen was eventually defeated by Choate, 6-4, 6-4.
COMING UP: The Utes will be up against instate rival Brigham Young University. The (6-12) Cougars are currently ranked No. 38 in the Omni Hotels Collegiate Tennis Rankings. They are boasting a top-ranked doubles team in Brooke Beverley and Dominique Reynolds. The match will be played Fri, Apr. 12 at 2:00 p.m. at the Salt Lake Swimming and Tennis Club (weather permitting).
QUOTING TSUMAS: "We have been competing well, but we just haven't been able to finish our leads," says head coach John Tsumas. "We are going to try to gain some momentum for the BYU match. I think we have a good chance of winning these two matches."
