University of Utah consensus All-America offensive lineman Jordan Gross made the Mountain West Conference's all-academic team for a fourth straight year after earning a 3.22 grade point average in fall semester. Gross, who is expected to be an early first round NFL draft pick, graduated from the Utah in December with a bachelor's degree in communication.
Gross was one of 11 Ute football players to make the all-MWC academic team for fall of 2002. The best GPA on the team went to sophomore defensive back Morgan Scalley, who earned a 3.94 in communication fall semester.
The complete list of Utah football players on the MWC all-academic team follows: senior linebacker Brooks Bahr (3.81, MBA), sophomore quarterback Brett Elliott (3.44, business), senior offensive tackle Jordan Gross (3.22, communication), junior tight end Matt Hansen (3.83, communication), junior linebacker Ray Holdcraft (3.19, business), senior linebacker Jeremy Lyman (3.08, exercise and sport science), junior offensive center Dustin McQuivey (3.55, business), junior quarterback Lance Rice (3.42, finance), sophomore defensive back Bo Nagahi (3.06, business), junior offensive lineman Max Peterson (3.17, business) and sophomore defensive back Morgan Scalley (3.94, communication).
