THIS WEEK:
The Utes' alpine team travels to Sugar Bowl, Calif., while the nordic team will journey to the Auburn Ski Club to ski in the Nevada Invitational. Day one of the event (Jan. 15) will feature the alpine giant slalom and the nordic 5/10 freestyle. Day two of the invite (Jan. 16) will be the slalom and 15/20 classical events.
LAST WEEK:
Utah hosted the first half of Utah Invitational in Park City, Utah, last weekend. Currently, Utah stands in third-place midway through the competition with a combine score of 268.0 points. Rivals New Mexico (287.0) and Denver (275.0) are sitting in first and second place at the end of two days.
In the GS, junior April Mancuso stole the show, skiing to a first-place finish with a time of 2:06.51. Rowena Hyldahl placed fifth, while junior Elisha Stephens skied to a 10th-place finish.
On the men's side, junior Ben Thornhill skied well, tying for sixth with Denver's David Lamb. Newcomer Andi Wieser powered his way to a ninth-place finish.
In the SL, sophomore Will McDonald placed fourth, while Wieser came away seventh.
For the women, Hyldahl placed seventh, while teammate Mancuso trailed close behind in eighth. Stephens rounded out another 10th-place finish.

NEXT WEEK:
The cross country team will finish the Utah Invitational at Soldier Hollow, Utah, Jan. 23-24. The Utes will ski in the 5/10 classical and 10/15 freestyle. Race times are TBA.
