OGDEN, Utah (AP) - Utah guard Nick Jacobson scored a career-high 28 points to lead the Utes to a 70-60 win over in state rival Weber State on Saturday.
The win was the Utah's (10-3) third straight victory over the Wildcats (7-6).
Jacobson was practically unstoppable for the Wildcats as he shot 8-of-12 from the field, 7-of-7 from the foul line and 5-of-7 from behind the 3-point line. The Utes also got a solid performance from center Andrew Bogut, who scored 16 points and grabbed six rebounds.
As a team, Utah made 56 percent of its shots from the field in the contest.
The Wildcats never got closer than six points in the second half. Every time Weber State tried to make a run, the Utes destroyed their momentum.
Slobodan Ocokoljic led the Wildcats with 27 points. Teammate Lance Allred also contributed a strong game against his old team as he scored 14 points and grabbed five rebounds.
Utah jumped out to a 39-30 lead in the first half, thanks to 60 percent shooting from the field and solid defense. Utah held Weber State starters' Jon Hamilton and Nic Sparrow to a combined 0-2 shooting in the first half.
Jacobson got things rolling for the Utes as he connected on five 3- pointers. As a team, Utah was also 6-of-11 from behind the arc. Weber State only managed to shoot 38 percent in the first half.
