SALT LAKE CITY - Richard Chaney scored a career-high 27 points and Nick Jacobson scored 18 to help Utah remain unbeaten at home with a 76-69 win over Pepperdine on Monday night.
Tim Drisdom scored 10 points and Justin Hawkins had 10 rebounds off the bench for the Utes (11-3), who improved to 7-0 at home this season.
Utah forward Andrew Bogut, the Utes' second-leading scorer, was shut out for the first time in his 14-game college career by going 0-for-0 from the floor, and finished with just three rebounds.
Glen McGowan led Pepperdine (5-10) with 22 points. Shaun Davis scored 15 and Terrance Johnson had 14 points for the Waves, who lost their fourth straight.
Pepperdine cut a 10-point lead in the second half to four but couldn't complete the comeback.
Chaney, whose previous high was 22 against Southern Utah last week, made a dunk to put Utah up 68-58, Davis came back with a 3-pointer and Turner drove for a dunk off a steal to cut it to 68-63 with about three minutes left.
Hawkins put back a rebound with a dunk to put Utah back up by six, but the Waves got a break when Hawkins missed the first of a 1-and-1 with 1:01 remaining. But Jesse Pinegar rushed a 3-pointer and missed badly for Pepperdine, and Utah got the rebound, called time out and held on for the win.
Utah, which averaged just 13 3-pointers per game, attempted 27 on Monday and made 14. The Utes' highest attempts from beyond the arc for the season had been 23 in an 82-39 win over San Diego on Dec. 6.
The first half was an outside shooting competition, with both teams combining for 10 total points inside. Instead, the Waves and Utes threw up shot after shot from beyond the arc - and made plenty. Utah made 9 of 14 3s, while Pepperdine was 4-for-10 to keep it close throughout the half.
McGowan tied it at 36 with a three-point play, then Drisdom broke the tie by driving for a layup just before halftime.
