THIS WEEK:
The University of Utah men and women's swimming and diving teams travel to Provo to take on in-state rival BYU in the Beehive Relays at the Stephen L. Richards Building. The meet is a tune-up for both teams before entering the regular dual-meet season.
UTE SENIOR MEET RECAP:
The University of Utah men and women's swimming and diving teams hosted the annual Ute Senior Meet on Saturday Oct. 16 at Ute Natatorium. The meet consisted of 12 events with the Utes swimming against local club and high school swimmers.
Senior Marta Stepanczuk was the top finisher for the Utes in the 1000 free with a time of 10:28.86. For the men, Eric Jorgensen finished with a time of 10:19.47 in the 1000 free. In the 100 breast, Ariane Kich (1:07.65) and John Leeman (1:02.46) took top honors in their respective events, while Michelle Blair (2:10.57) and senior Cody Rempfer (1:52.18) finished first in the 200 fly.
Juniors Amy Barefield and Jonathan Larsen earned top honors in the 50 free with a time of 24.71 and 21.94 respectively. David Maasberg and Alison McInturff took top honors in the 100 free with a time of 49.99 and 54.20 respectively.
QUOTING HEAD COACH Michael Litzinger:
"We are excited to get our season underway. It is nice to start the year with a relay format, and have an opportunity to swim with BYU. Friday will give us a preview of our team, and of course of our in-state rival"
