SALT LAKE CITY - Utah Quarterback Alex Smith's list of impressive accolades keeps growing, this time adding the Sports Illustrated Player of the Year honor to his bounty.
The story will appear in this week's Sports Illustrated issue.
Smith has already been tabbed All-American by four different media outlets, most recently by Pro Football Weekly (first team) and the Associated Press (second team).
In addition to his All-American awards, he was The Sporting News Player of the Year, CoSIDA Football Academic All-American of the Year, and was a finalist for numerous national awards including the Heisman.
Smith and his Ute gridders went 11-0 this season and will wrap up the 2004 season when they play Pittsburgh in the Fiesta Bowl on Saturday, Jan. 1.
