Utah Ski Team Recognized For Academics

SALT LAKE CITY -- The University of Utah ski team has recently been recognized for its academic achievements of the 2004 fall semester. The ski program has placed 16 student-athletes on the athletic academic honor roll (3.0 GPA or higher). Of those 16, skiers Tony Bozzio, Ben Thornhill, Barbro Hatlevik, Anna Sprague and Elisha Stephens were named to the Dean's List for earning a 3.5 GPA or higher with the required amount of credits. Senior Sprague led all skiers with a 4.0 GPA.

"This was an excellent fall for us," said Head Coach Kevin Sweeney. "It is dynamite to see these student-athletes doing so well academically. It makes us all feel good about the time, energy and commitment each and every athlete has for sports and academics. I think we are right on track to upholding Ute excellence. I am very proud of this group. This is exactly what we talked about in the preseason....going for it 100-percent on and off the race course."
