OGDEN, Utah (AP) - Utah's Bryant Markson scored five of his 14 points in overtime as the Utes claimed a 67-62 victory over in-state rival Weber State Saturday.
Weber State's Terrell Stovall's driving layup with seven seconds remaining in regulation tied the game 55-55. The Utes' Tim Drisdom drove the length of the court and banked in what would have been the game-winner, but the basket was negated by an offensive charging call.
Back-to-back scores by Markson and Shaun Green gave Utah a four-point lead early in overtime and the Utes converted 7-of-10 free throws down the stretch to seal the win.
Utah (3-0) was led in scoring by Johnnie Bryant with 21 points, including 4-of-6 shooting from beyond the 3-point line. Luke Nevill added 12 points for the Utes.
Weber State's (3-1) Coric Riggs had 17 points and six rebounds. David Patten contributed 11 points and Nick Covington had 11 points and seven assists for the Wildcats.
The game had 13 lead changes and eight ties. The Utes have now won five straight and 10 of the last 12 meetings over the Wildcats.
