Utah Head Coach Ray Giacoletti:
"We tried to take the shackles off this game and play free. We did a pretty good job together and we have regrouped over the Christmas break. We are taking steps in the right direction."
"Chris Grant did a very good job tonight. He has made the best out of every opportunity and we rewarded him with the start tonight. He isn't scared to go touch the ball in the middle of the floor and distribute it to an open teammate. Ricky Johns is a good shooter and that is why we recruited him. The ball got shared tonight and we got excited about making the extra pass."
"Shaun Green has had a lot of pressure on him and we tried to take some off of him by not starting him. Chris Jackson had his first double-double of his career and he is playing very well."
Utah Sophomore Guard Chris Grant:
"The coaches didn't tell me I was going to start until before the scouting report [today] and that was exciting. I try to be solid and be aggressive by making things happen. This game allowed our team to renew our excitement for the game and gives us something to practice for. We are playing together and we are pumped for conference. We are starting to have fun again since it has been a frustrating season until now."
Utah Junior Guard Ricky Johns:
"This was a good shooting night for me and this isn't anything new. I just try to be confident and comfortable in the system. The offense can be confusing at times when you're a new guy, but after you start playing your game it comes easier. That makes the game simpler."
Utah Senior Center Chris Jackson:
"It was great to get a double-double for the first time in my career. I have managed to keep myself where I can be successful, and that's right next to the basket. My teammates have done a pretty good job at finding me when it's there. This game was about us. After what we've been through before the [Christmas] break I think we are starting to get the ship in the right direction and this game was one step further in that direction."
High Point Head Coach Bart Lundy:
"We didn't do any of the things that have made us successful at this point in the season. We have normally been able to pressure people and make rotations to out hussle people, but that didn't happen tonight. Utah played harder and was much more prepared. We are a much faster team, but again they played much harder and it showed."
