THIS WEEK: The Utah men's and women's swimming and diving teams will travel to the Ohio State Invitational for the three-day invitational, December 1-3, in Columbus, Ohio. The meet will feature some of the top teams from around the nation. The meet will be held in the McCorkie Aquatic Pavilion on the campus of Ohio State University. The venue will host some of the biggest events in college swimming in the future, including the Big Ten Conference Championships and the 2008 NCAA Women's Swimming and Diving Championships.
The Ohio State Invitational will be in a three-day championship meet format. A, B, and C Finals will be swum in the evenings of each day.
Events:
Day 1: 200 Free Relay, 500 Free, 200 IM, 50 Free, 400 Medley Relay
Day 2: 200 Medley Relay, 400 IM, 100 Fly, 200 Free, 100 Breast, 100 Back, 800 Free Relay
Day 3: 1650 Free, 200 Back, 100 Free, 200 Breast, 200 Fly, 400 Free Relay

Teams:
Women's: Utah, Ohio State, Arkansas, South Carolina, Iowa, Bowling Green, Denver
Men's: Utah, Ohio State, Minnesota, South Carolina, Iowa, Notre Dame, Denver
UTE NOTES: The Utah women are sitting at 4-0 on the season with a 2-0 Mountain West Conference record. In their last meet the Utes beat San Diego State 133-105. Utah was led by Shannon McQueen who won the 200 free (1:54.21), 500 free (5:01.50) and the 400-medley relay (3:57.00).
The Utah men sit at 3-4 overall and 0-1 in conference competition. The Utes are coming off the Purdue Invitational where they beat Louisville 244-105, but lost to Purdue, Penn State and Georgia. David Maasberg finished third overall in the 50 free with his time of 20.97, while teammate Seamus Alger placed second in the 400 IM with a time of 4:01.41, leading the Utes at the Invitational.
WHAT TO WATCH FOR: On the women's side, Utah will get a look at some teams from around the nation that swim in the top conferences in college swimming. Going into the meet South Carolina and the Utes look to be the favorites. The men's draw features three teams in the top 25 according to collegeswimming.com. Minnesota sits seventh, Ohio State 12th and Notre Dame 17th, nationally.
QUOTE FROM HEAD COACH Michael Litzinger: "This is a great way to finish the first semester. Both the men and women have done a great job competing and are swimming well right now. This is a good opportunity for us to get some exposure to other teams around the nation. This type of event will hopefully help contribute to our teams' success at the end of the year. The Ohio State invitational gives us the chance to face high end competition."
