SALT LAKE CITY - The University of Utah women's tennis team put up a good fight on Friday against the TCU, but was unable to pull out a win. The Horned Frogs took a 5-2 victory over the Utes.

The Utes started out doubles play with a lot of power, but TCU came ready to rumble. Andrea Maughan and Karine Bourdages fell to Kieriae Ionesco and Andrea Morgardo at the No. 3 slot 8-5. At the No. 2 slot, Cheyenne Reveche and Emily Kwok shot down Ana Cetnik and Kewa Nichols with an 8-5 victory. The doubles point came down to who won at the top spot. Elizabeth Ferris and Leigh Walsh were batting Anna Sydorska and Nina Munich-Soegaard. The duos went point for point to point, causing the match to go into a tie-breaker. The Utes couldn't hold up in the end, giving the Horned frogs the win at 9-8(1) and TCU the doubles point.

In singles play, the Utes played well against the No. 32 Horned Frogs. At the top spot, Ferris battled No. 58 Sydorska. The Ute overcame Sydorska for a 6-1, 6-3 win. At the No. 6 slot, Bourdages faced Ionesco from TCU. The Ute slammed a victorious 6-0, 6-2 win over Ionesco to notch the Utes to 2-1.

At the No. 3 slot, Walsh was facing No. 43 Cetnik. The Horned Frog took the match 6-2, 6-3 . At the No. 4 slot, Maughan was battlig agains Nichols. The Horned Frog hit a 6-3, 6-2 win over the Ute to edge TCU to 3-2.

At the No. 2 slot, Kwok faced No. 93 Munich-Soegaard from the Horned Frogs. The first set was close, but it ended in the Frog's favor. Munich-Soegaard took the match 7-6(4), 6-2. Last on the courts was Reveche at the No. 5 slot. The Ute faced Morgado from TCU for a three set battle. Reveche took the first set 7-6(3), only for the Horned Frog to answer back in the second set 6-2. The tie breaker was a hard fought battle on both sides, but Morgado was able to settle the match and take the win at 6-7(3), 6-2 (10-7). TCU took the overall match at 5-2 to maintain being undefeated in conference play. The Utes are now 3-2 in conference play.
