The Utah ski team blog is updated regularly with insight and photos from coaches and athletes.
* The Utah ski team recently held an open house to celebrate the opening of the Ski Team Building. A soccer match between alumni and current players was held while everyone had a chance to check out the new building afterwards. The alumni pulled out the 3-2 win on the current team.
"It was fun to mix and mingle with everyone," Director of Skiing Eli Brown said. "We are excited about the grand opening of the building. It means a lot for our kids to meet the older skiers. They can learn from them and it helps them realize they are part of something bigger."
* One of the highlights of the open house was a cookie tasting contest. Different groups of skiers baked cookies and encouraged the crowd to vote on their favorites. Zoe Roy and Sarah MacCarthy's Winning Seven Layer Bars came out on top, with Ute-Rageous peanut butter cookies (made by Maddie Talkington and Devon Spika) and Fancy Delights chocolate cookies (made by Marta Larsen, Karina Smith and Anna Kocken) also in the running.
* The team will hold a fundraising ski waxing and tuning event, November 6-8. Please see the flyer above for details. Alpine and cross country skis and snowboards are all welcome.
* Utah will be participating in a roller ski race on Saturday, Oct. 24, at Soldier Hollow. The Steinbock/350.org Invitational is hosted by Steinbock Racing and 350.org. 350.org is an international campaign dedicated to building a movement to unite the world around solutions to the climate crisis. October 24 is the 350.org International Day of Action.
"There is not much time before snow, this is the last crucial preparation period we have," Brown said. "We are really on track. We have a strong chance to get back on the podium at NCAA's and we are working hard for that."
