FLUSHING, N.Y.- Junior Anastasia Putilina and sophomore Paige Miles of the University of Utah women's tennis team fell to the second-seeded, No. 1-ranked team of Jana Juricova and Mari Andersson of California by a score of 8-4 in the first round of main draw doubles at the USTA/ITA National Intercollegiate Indoor Championships Thursday.
"This match was a bit frustrating but it was necessary in terms of convincing us that we can compete at the highest level," said head coach Mat Iandolo.
The Ute duo, ranked No. 33, will compete in their first consolation match Friday, Nov. 5, at 9 a.m. ET at the USTA-Billie Jean King National Tennis Center's new indoor courts.
