VANCOUVER, B.C. - The University of Utah has two former skiers competing in the 2010 Vancouver Olympics. Cross-country skier Torin Koos (1999-2003) will represent the USA with alpine skier Chirine Njeim (2007-09) competing for Lebanon.
The Utes are just one of two NCAA ski teams to have two skiers competing in the Olympics. The other is Middlebury College.
Both athletes are competing in their third Olympics. They also competed in 2002 in Salt Lake City and in Torino in 2006.
Koos, who specializes in sprint racing, was a three-time All-America skier at Utah. He finished seventh in the classic at the 2001 NCAA Championships while placing fourth in the classic race in 2002 with a sixth-place run in the freestyle race. He also ran track and cross country for the Utes. Koos graduated from Utah in 2004 with a degree in communications.
Njeim was a three-time NCAA qualifier, earning All-America honors as a freshman in 2007 in the giant slalom with a sixth-place finish. She is currently attending Utah towards completion of her degree. Njeim was the flag bearer for Lebanon during the parade of nations during the opening ceremony on Friday evening. She plans to race in her Utah ski suit, competing in the Super-G, slalom and giant slalom races.

"I can't wait," Njeim said before she left Utah. "I can't believe that I'm actually going to be walking in the Olympics. Being able to represent my country means a lot to me because there are not a lot of skiers from Lebanon so to be able to be there and be part of the Olympics is very exciting.
"I want to thank everyone who has supported me and helped me out through everything."
